CAPITULO 3: LA CALLE
La casa de Diego está en una calle del Cercado de Lima.
Es una calle pequeña, con varias casas y una tienda.
En la mañana, muchos vecinos caminan rápido para ir al trabajo o al colegio.
Algunas personas esperan el CARRO en la esquina.
Diego mira por la ventana de su CUARTO (habitación)
Los niños con sus mochilas van al colegio.
Él está tranquilo porque él va al colegio más tarde.
Miguel, su hermano menor, camina con su mamá en la vereda.
Su mamá dice:
— ¡Camina rápido, hijo!
En la mañana hay vendedores de desayuno en la esquina, y más tarde hay vendedores de fruta. Por ejemplo, siempre hay un señor que vende plátano, él dice: ¡plátano, plátano! Dos soles la mano
En la calle hay mucho ruido: hay motos y carros llenos de gente.
Diego piensa: una calle ruidosa en Lima ¡es común!

CHAPTER 3: THE STREET
Diego’s house is on a street in Cercado de Lima.
It’s a small street, with several houses and a shop.
In the morning, many neighbours walk quickly to get to work or school.
Some people wait for the carro (the bus/van/car) on the corner.
Diego looks out of the window of his room.
Children with their school bags are on their way to school.
He feels calm because he goes to school later.
Miguel, his younger brother, walks with their mum on the pavement.
His mum says,
— “Walk faster, son!”
In the morning, there are breakfast vendors on the corner, and later there are fruit sellers. For example, there’s always a man who sells bananas. He says, “¡Banana, banana! 5 for 2soles!”
The street is very noisy: there are motorbikes and minibuses full of people.
Diego thinks, a noisy street in Lima — that’s normal!
